A strawberry ice cream charm hanging from a Lady Dior bag was probably not on anyone’s Dior bingo card this year.

The latest summer collection from Dior takes Dioriviera somewhere lighter, stranger and far less polished than the usual luxury resort formula.

Instead of keeping everything pristine and overly refined, Jonathan Anderson fills the collection with details that feel slightly unexpected for Dior.

Bag charms shaped like measuring tapes, mirrors and ice cream cones. Terry cloth Book Totes. Fruit-shaped jewellery. Boat shoes. Striped swimwear. Bucket hats. Sun-faded colour.

Somewhere between Riviera holiday dressing and a sense of humour that luxury fashion usually edits out.

The Dior Arabesque print reworks an archival illustration by artist Christian Bérard, whose relationship with the house dates back to the original 30 Montaigne boutique. Faces appear between florals. Botanical drawings spread across shirts, scarves and resort pieces without feeling too historical or theatrical.

The terry cloth Book Tote shifts the mood immediately. Usually structured and polished, it suddenly feels softer, slightly beach-worn and easier to carry into an actual summer holiday.

The men’s collection moves through flowing shirts, casual shorts, loafers and Dior Chester boat shoes with a vintage Riviera mood running underneath everything.

The smaller details are what shift the mood of the collection.

Ice cream cone charms. Thimbles disguised as desserts. Rhinestone fruit jewellery. Tiny objects that stop the collection from feeling too self-serious.

Even Dior Maison follows the same direction through garden furniture, tableware and resort objects tied to Christian Dior’s long-standing fascination with nature and decorative arts.

The Dioriviera collection arrives across selected resorts and pop-up destinations including Cipriani, Mykonos, Bodrum and Saint-Tropez from April onwards.
